I like to express my opinions, which I do quite a bit and have fun doing. And I love write. How better to combine the two?

Sleepless

I feel like I’ve been experiencing some random insomnia lately. Tonight, I went to bed around 1 a.m. and never was able to go to sleep. Since my mom goes into the studio at 5, I guess I’ll just go in with her since I’ve been meaning to go this whole break. I’m about a month overdue so I guess I should make it in at least once before I go back to school.

Tomorrow night should be a really good time. The amazing Signum A.D. from Wichita is opening to for Taproot in Salina and of course, I’ll be there. I’m excited to see them play again because I’ve really grown to love them in the last year. Everyone needs to listen to them. Go do that, now.

I saw “King’s Speech” today. It was brilliant. Put Colin Firth, Helena Bonham Carter, and Geoffrey Rush in a movie together and you get one amazing flick. I highly recommend that movie.

I’ll write more exciting stuff later. The studio calls! Happy sleeping.

Sappy 2010 Memories

I sit here looking forward to a very uneventful New Year’s Eve. I say that but I know we will have fun because I will be with people I love. It will just be different than the ones in the past. I think it will be a quiet one this year. That’s sometimes a good thing, though. I can’t help but think back to all the experiences I had this year and what an amazing year it has been. I went through a lot with graduating, moving to Manhattan, and having my last Christmas in the house I have lived in for 11 years. It was a little bittersweet hearing my mom show the house to the couple interested in buying it. However, I know we just have to move on from some things eventually in our lives. Earlier in the year, I said goodbye to some people I have grown up with and the reality of it is I probably won’t see them much, if not at all, anymore. But like I said, that’s another part of life.

Moving to Manhattan brought about so many new opportunities. I’m finally experiencing what it’s like to live on my own, buy my own necessities, feed myself, and concentrate on school without anyone telling me what to do. It has brought about a whole new level of independence. Another thing I have experienced with this independence is being without my sister who I have been with since I was born. It was a complete eye opener as I went through many things like making completely new friends without her in that group. Everyday, I wish we were still attached at the hip (hypothetically, of course) but I knew sooner or later we would have to be independent. I hope she’s happier with her new school in the semester. I didn’t like hearing how unhappy she was everyday. I wanted to ride my bike to go nurture her, but that was just way too far.

What else did I do this year? Oh yeah. There’s that one time I saw Muse. I’ve been meaning to do that for quite some time now so I’m lucky I finally got to do that. That’s one thing I really enjoy about being independent. My mom doesn’t breathe down my neck about her concerns about me going to shows anymore. I’m on cloud nine when it comes to that. I also definitely took advantage of my freedom to go to shows this semester. I liked it. The Decemberists in February. That’s another one that is long overdue, but nonetheless, I’m glad it’s happening. Thanks, brother.

What’s my resolution? Get cable. That’s kind of a mundane resolution, but life was extremely boring sometimes without it last semester.

That’s my sappy New Year post. Happy New Year! Get drunk.

The Crosswalk Man: What I believe is wrong with America (and it isn't the correct answer)

bmdubya:

I seriously think the biggest problem with America today is that every single person has different ideas on religion, politics, war, race, economics, etc. Every person has a different idea or belief for everything on this planet. That is what makes us unique. I’d hate for every person to have the…

We had a nice little reunion with some long-lost buddies last night. We decided it was appropriate to bust out the Jenga game. Talk about 10-year old memories. I like going on break though because friends are reunited and we always get crazy together. Here’s some alternative ways to set up Jenga.

This man is a comedy legend. There just isn’t any comedians like him today.

For those that are comedy deprived, this is Johnny Carson. Look him up.

I took photos around the house today of some Christmas decorations. I think this one turned out pretty good. Happy Christmas!

Deutsch-ness

I’m studying my German lingo right now for a final coming up in a couple hours. Where’s Dominik, Sara, Fenja, and all those other German-speaking cats I know. Oh wait, Germany. I forgets. Oh well, I’ll be fine. Ich kann Deutsch sprechen…somewhat.

I get to go home today to a Christmas tree, fudge, and Dexter on my Tivo. Did I mention it’s for a whole month? So incredible. Maybe I’ll gain 10 pounds from that excessive amount of fudge I will consume. That’s what winter is for though, right? Maybe I’ll post photo updates. Nahh that would be embarrassing. Don’t wait for that.

Trent Reznor got nominated for a Golden Globe for his score for “The Social Network.” I’m looking forward to seeing him win cause that’s kind of a different nominee from the norm. That talent deserves some recognition. Go Trent.

Back to studying. I’ve goofed for too long now.

Happy 9-days-till Christmas!

StudyShmuddy

Ouch, brain, ouch. First final tomorrow. Might as well sign up for a summer class now. I have a creative brain, not one that knows how to simplify a matrix or use synthetic division. Not I. Oh, and inverses can just disappear from my life and never come back. Oh, algebra talk.

I have a hole in my sock. That’s why the bottom of my shoe was very uncomfortable. Mystery solved.

Good night. :-)

(zomg, I just used a smiley.)
